Valve Disc Spring

Disc Springs are preferred over other types of springs (such as coil springs, belleville washers, belleville springs and conical washers) when used in critical applications such as safety valves, clutch & safety brake for elevators, and supports for industrial pipe systems due to their predictability, reliability and unparalleled fatigue life.
One common application for Belleville washers in valves is live loading of packing.
The term“live loading” means using a valve spring to maintain load on a seal.
Bellevilles are used to maintain load on the gland follower. The springs are typically arranged in a stack on the stud to increase the elasticity of the system.
